Sterland reaches new heights in roofing

Sterland Roofing & Cladding has put industry best practice to work to become a remarkable success in the industry.

9 years ago Mathew Sterland started the business up with one employee and a ute. From these small beginnings, Sterland became a trusted name in the industry and has rapidly expanded.

From that modest start-up in a garage - workshop, today they occupy a 2,000 square metre factory and employ some 30 people. The company now specialises in constructing high - end, precision - built copper and zinc projects.

And as Director, Matt is committed to training new apprentices. He said:

"Sterland is always proud to be bringing new tradesman into the field. It’s unfortunate that we are seeing less and less apprenticeships being taken up by the industry generally."

He was recently appointed as the new Vice President of the MRCAA and is proud to list his numerous awards in the industry, including ‘Specialist Works’ projects, to ‘Best Residential 2013’ award and most recently, the 2014 ‘Rex Blackwell Gold Award for overall excellence in Roofing’. (The equivalent of the prestigious Master Builders Award of the Year).

Matt says his success basically comes down to: "doing the right job, at the right price, at the right time."
